Winnipeg Folk Festival 2006
I didn’t go to Folk Fest last year because the names didn’t draw me in.
I was also poor. Sad times when you have to choose a kitchen appliance over a fun weekend. And the year before, I also really WAS NOT impressed with the whole “jock” population.
I love the camping experience at Folk Fest; it’s a huge factor for me when I go to the Winnipeg Folk Festival. And having really ignorant camp neighbours caused alot of problems (imagine a soccer ball hitting your head at 5am while you slept in your tent).
But this year, when I heard the initial six-name shortlist of muscians set to play this year included Bruce Cockburn, I immediately started saving and arranged for time away from all things responsible during the festival.
That, with any better planned camping scenario, is well worth the $140 for a four-day pass and camping pass in advance. Hearing Cockburn’s name simply made any possible negative crap.. okay. Him being there alone transcends anything negative.

But what’s this?
More AWESOME musicians, like Neko Case, The Sadies, Steve Earle, Christine Fellows, Dan Frechette, Hawksley Workman, James Keelaghan and a band called Two Hours Traffic, which is from my “home” province; PEI.
Zing!
