We’ve all done this. You have this song stuck in your head, but you can’t put a name to it to save your life. Now there’s an interesting solution.
Launched in beta on Friday, Midomi is a website that allows you to hum or sing the song, upload it and it will search and compare your version to its database of 2 million licensed tracks.
The underlying speech and sound recognition technology, dubbed Multimodal Adaptive Recognition System, or MARS, looks at a variety of factors for recognizing samples, including pitch, tempo variation, speech content and location of pauses, said Chief Executive Keyvan Mohajer, who has a Ph.D. in sound and speech recognition from Stanford University.
This might help Timbaland.
Last year, the Green Party of Canada was rebuffed by the Canadian television consortium to join the Federal Election debate. This year, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May says getting included is one of her top priorities.
Core Strategies, the Green Party’s official pollster, says that 77.2% were “strongly in favour” or “in favour” of allowing Ms. May to speak.
What’s more is that the survey also found that 84% of Bloc Québécois supporters supported Ms. May’s inclusion in the debate; trailing with 81% of NDP supporters, 76% of Liberal supporters and 66% of Conservative supporters, wanted to see the Greens equally included.
The television consortium says their rule is they will only allow leaders whose parties hold a seat in Parliament. Of course, it’s a catch 22. You can’t get elected in if you’re not present when there’s a debate.
Nearly two thirds (62%) of Canadians believe Stephen Harper and Jack Layton are worried about facing Elizabeth May in the debates.
Ms. May received 26% of the vote in a by-election in London, Ont. last November, the highest number of votes a Green candidate has ever received in Canada.
AT&T is ramping up its Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) offerings, and hopes to have 8 million subscribers by the end of the year.
Ironically perhaps, two videos have appeared on YouTube illustrating how the talented music producer Timbaland may have copied music from Janne Suni of Finland without authorization in one of Furtado’s songs that Timbaland produced.
One thing I find interesting about music, especially a hum or melody like the song mentioned, is that perhaps someone hears it and then later on mimics it. I know someone who told me of this great storyline that came to his mind, however it was from a movie we had both recently watched.
